Roadwork on the downtown railroad crossing to begin on June 26th

ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE: Construction will begin and the intersection closed tomorrow morning, July 12 @ 7 AM affecting Burns Hill Road in front of the Police Station. Emergency vehicle access through this area during the closure will be allowed. Barricades will be placed at Burns Hill @ Main Street, Burns Hill @ School Road and Island Street @ Mill Street. The Police Station will be accessible from Main Street for regular business and Barry Court residents will have access from the School Road side of the project. We anticipate that the intersection will be re-opened next Thursday afternoon/early evening, July 18th.

NOTICE: DOT is planning to begin road construction on the downtown railroad crossing project Wednesday June 26th. This will consist of normal road construction using alternating one-way traffic with flaggers.


They are currently planning to start the 7-day full road closure on Friday July 12th. There will be limited pedestrian access from Friday July 12th to Monday July 15th while they demo the old tracks and install the new precast tubs. There will be emergency vehicle access maintained throughout the 7-day closure. The intersection will be re-opened to traffic on Friday July 19th. Construction will continue after this utilizing alternating one way traffic with flaggers.
