The grand opening and ribbon-cutting for the new Wilton Riverwalk Stony Brook Trail took place on Sunday, June 13th, 2021 at 11:00. Many Wilton residents joined the downtown festivities and listened to the speeches by Jennifer Beck, Kellie-Sue Boissonnault, Kermit Williams and Ron Brown before Kellie-Sue cut the ribbon and invited folks to walk the trail. Ron also dedicated a memorial bench to long-time Wilton resident and volunteer, Spencer C. Brookes. Todd Fahey, State Director, AARP New Hampshire also sent along some congratulatory words for a project well-done!
The new trail is a solar-lit, handicapped accessible walkway along the northern bank of Stony Brook, with plantings, placemaking signage, benches, sculptures and access to fishing spots.
This trail was made possible through a $19,711 AARP Community Challenge grant as well as a permanent easement of land along the river by TDS Telecomm. The project was led by the Economic Development Team with key contributions from the Conservation Commission.
