Guidelines for Events on the Community Calendar
Please
review these guidelines before you submit your event:
The Community Calendar covers local events that are of general interest to the Wilton community.
Event Location:
Events must be located in Wilton. Exception is made for Lyndeborough
events that are co-sponsored by a Wilton organization such as the
Wilton-Lyndeborough Women’s Club or the WLC school district.
Fees:
Events should be free except for non-profits who charge an entrance or
ticket fee (e.g. Andy’s Summer Playhouse, High Mowing School), or a
participation fee for a fundraising event. Public service courses such
as CPR classes sponsored by the Fire Department, Health Clinics, classes
at the Library, etc., may also charge a fee for materials or
certifications.
Sponsors:
Events must be sponsored or co-sponsored by a Wilton-based organization.
While events held by the Library, FRES/WLC, and High Mowing are usually
posted on their own websites (which is where patrons know to look for
them), all of these organizations are welcome to post important events
of wide
interest on the town Community Calendar as well.
Commercial Businesses:
The Community Calendar is not the place to promote events held by individual
businesses in town, e.g. discount sales taking place in a store, online
promotions, holiday promotions, etc. The proper place for these is on
the Merchants and Residents of Wilton Facebook page.
Political Events:
Campaign events for individual candidates are not allowed.
Multi-candidate forums, such as Wilton’s Candidates Night, or a League
of Women’s Voters Congressional Candidates event (held in Wilton) are
allowed.
Duration:
The Community Calendar is best suited to events which take place on a
single day, or at most two days. Longer events, such as a three-month
long clothing drive, or the multi-week Giving Tree, should be put in a
news article so that a single event doesn’t take up every day of the
week on the Community Calendar.
Event Description:
All important information about the event should be placed in the
description itself, in plain text. Flyers and graphic images should be
attached to the event as PDFs rather than added as an image in the
description. These images do not scale well on mobile devices, and are
generally unreadable.
If you feel that your event meets our guidelines, we'll be happy to review
it: Submit your event
